This is the question we get asked most often, and it’s the most difficult one to answer. Each job is unique, and there’s no rule of thumb for how long a project can take. We all know how unpredictable the weather in Georgia can be. And because the majority of services TLC offers are performed outdoors, inclement weather can interfere with even the most conservative job schedule. At TLC we strive to give our customers the best quality product at the best prices.
If the frame of your deck is structurally sound (i.e., the bones are good), refacing will almost always be more cost-effective than replacing and rebuilding a deck entirely, because you’re only updating the surface boards. Refacing is also a great way to update the look of your deck with materials like composite that require only pressure-washing for maintenance.
You don't “have” to paint pressure treated lumber. However, painting or staining will extend the lifespan of the lumber and protect against moisture, UV rays and discoloration. It can also prevent early warping and cracking due to weathering. If you really just like the look of new lumber and want to keep it as is, there are clear sealants that will protect the wood and let you retain that natural look.
The treatment process used on new outdoor lumber is too wet to paint right away, preventing paint to bond to the wood. Depending on the climate and the time of year, we usually recommend a minimum of six weeks to two months before having your new fence or deck painted to allow sufficient time for the wood to dry out before sealing it with paint or stain.
In most cases, no. TLC sources materials from a variety of places that the average homeowner does not have access to and can often obtain contractor-only discounts on bulk orders. These discounts will always be reflected in the quote for your project.
When temperatures drop below 32 degrees at night, the water in the mix expands and causes cracking and weakening. For concrete to set properly and achieve maximum strength, the ground temperature needs to be above 50 degrees. And the larger the pour, the longer the cure time. Ideally, if overnight temperatures stay above 50 degrees as well, the concrete has the best chance of setting well.
